Effect of Alloy Elements on Precipitation Behavior of Carbides in High-carbon Alloy Tool Steels Based on Computer Simulation

By using the equilibrium thermo-dynamic calculation method Thermo-Calc software,the effects of Cr,W,Mo,V alloy elements on the carbide formation in high-carbon alloy tool steel were studied.The results show that,the type of carbides precipitated in steel matrix are mainly M23C6,M6 C,M7C3,MC,the order of carbide precipitation temperature are:MCM6CM7C3M23C6.With the increase of Cr content,M23C6,M7C3 precipitation temperature increases,M6 C,MC precipitation temperature is not affected,the carbides content shows a linear increasing trend.With the increase of W content,M23C6,MC precipitation temperature is not affected,M6 C,M7C3 precipitation temperature increases; a very small influence on the content of M23C6,MC,and M6 C,M7C3 content shows a linear increase.With the increase of Mo content,M23C6,MC,M7C3 precipitation temperature is not affected,the precipitation temperature of M6 C increases; M23C6,MC content decreases slightly,the content of M6 C increases linearly,the content of M7C3 decreases obviously.With the increase of V content,M23C6 precipitation temperature increases,M6 C precipitation temperature is not affected,the precipitation temperature of M7C3decreases; M23C6,M7C3 carbide content decreases,while M6 C,MC content increases linearly.
