Effects of Zr Content on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AM60 Alloy

ZHANG Lei;ZHU Yunpeng;School of Mechanical Engineering, Qinghai University;
The effects of Zr content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast AM60 alloy were investigated by OM(optical microscope) and hardness testing machine. The results show that grain size in as-cast AM60 magnesium alloy can be refined with Zr addition. The hardness of the alloy increases first, and then decreases with Zr content increasing. With 0.4% Zr addition, the desirable hardness can be observed, which can reach 70.5 HBS.
