Effect of Shot Peening on Properties of 18CrNiMo7-6 Carburizing Gear Surface

The shot peening of 18 CrNiMo7-6 gear after carburizing under different parameters was carried out by pneumatic type shot peening machine. The three-dimensional surface morphology, surface microstructure, microhardness and residual stress were analyzed by three-dimensional optical microscope, scanning electron microscope,microhardness tester and X-ray residual stress analyzer. The fatigue life of the gears strengthened by different shot peening parameters was studied by high frequency fatigue testing machine tests. The results show that shot peening can significantly improve the surface hardness, reduce the surface residual stress and refine the surface structure. By optimizing shot peening parameters, the bending fatigue life of the samples increases by 8.39 times
