Grain and Tensile property Analysis of AZ80 Magnesium Alloy in 3-pass Rolling Process

The microstructure of AZ80 alloy during 3-pass rolling was analyzed by using OM, BESD and other testing techniques. The tensile properties and microstructure transformation of the alloy were studied. The results show that after 1-pass deformation, recrystallization occurs in the microstructure of AZ80 magnesium alloy, resulting in many recrystallized grains with different sizes, and the size is obviously refined. After 2-pass deformation, the grain size is refined to a greater extent. After 3-pass deformation, the microstructure is covered by the dynamic precipitated phase, the grain size of the alloy is more significantly refined, and the average grain size is 2.0 μm, resulting in more high density dislocation entanglement. The relationship between the hardness and rolling pass is linear. The hardness reaches the maximum values of 105 HV at 3-passes.The fracture analysis shows that the grain is refined with the increase of rolling pass.
