Study on Ribbon-type Overflow Dam and Ski-jump Plunge Pool

In a hydraulic model of a project with ski:jump plunge pool, the ribbon:type overflow spillway in combination with middle and bottom outlets was studied. A reasonable layout of the structure was formulated, which could reduce the load of the trajectory overflow exerting on the plunge pool bottom and make the pool playing function of energy dissipation. The prototype dam was 260 m high and with the maximum discharge capacity of 30,000 m3/s. The influencing factors of the slab stability were investigated. Some suggestions for slab design were proposed and its optimization was discussed.
