AN ANALYTIC MODEL OF HORIZONTAL SECTION PRESSURE DROP

According to the behavior in the horizontal section of the horizontal well, an analytic model of the horizontal wellborepressure drop is made. Dikken's model is a special case of this model. The flow along a completed wellbore section is differentfrom the flow in a conventional, solid-wall pipe. Along a completed wellbore, there exists the radial inflow through theperforations in addition to the axial flow along the wellbore, which makes the now complex. Therefore, pressure loss in thecompleted wellbore is not covered by conventional friction factor correlation. This inflow effect is significant in most wells andwill affect the inflow performance of the well. In the case of single-phase turbulent liquid flow, the authors analyze its frictionfactor and discuss the calculation method of friction factor of the completed section. The pressure loss of horizontal wellboreincludes friction resistance loss, acceleration loss and mixture loss. Examples are used in the paper to calculate the horizontalsection pressure drop of single-phase turbulent flow, which is directly in proportion to the length of the horizontal section andoutput.
