Screen of high virulent strains of Metarrhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana against Lymantria xylina

Lymantria xylina was one of the major insect pests attacking Casuarina sp.in coastal protection forest in Southeast China.Bioassay of 8 Metarrhizium anisopliae and 2 Beauveria bassiana strains against Lymantria xylina was made.Sporulation,corrected mortality and LT50 were chosen as selection indicator.Two strains,MaYDTR03 and BbSMYXTR03 were selected as the excellent strains.The corrected mortality of the 2 strains against L.xylina was over 95%,muscardine cadavers rate of L.xylina were 72.5% and 80% respectively,and the LT50 of the two strains were 6.68 d and 6.57 d respectively,which were more effective than other strains.At the same time,correlation of M.anisopliae's sporulation and LT50 was analyzed.The result showed that strong correlations existed between the two indicator.
