Study on the optimal arrangement of energy dissipation and flood releasing of Xiaowan Hydropower Station

This paper discusses the arrangement of flood releasing and energy dissipation of the arch dam of Xiaowan Hydropower Station. Based on the measurement and analysis of the dynamic water pressure, impact pressure, flow pulse pressure and tailwater fluctuation of bottom slab of water cushion pool, the shape and layout of outlet opening of dam body has been optimally selected. Meanwhile it is important to avoid the occurrence of strong back flow and low pressure zone in water cushion pool and the big impact pressure on the bottom slab of water cushion pool. After the completion of optimal layout of body shape, the results showed that all indexes can meet the requirements of design.
