Research on Mechanical Properties of UHMWPE Composite Filled with Natural Coral

Natural coral of favorable biocompatibility was pulverized into micrometer-scale powder and treated with silane coupling agent to be used as modification agent for UHMWPE,and coral powder/UHMWPE was prepared by means of hot-press moulding method.The dispersibility of the coral powder in the fracture surface of the composite and the mechanical properties of the composites were studied.The results showed the dispersibility of the powder increased with the increase of the content of the powder.When the mass fraction of the powder was 30%,the micro hardness and anti-scratching properties of the composite increased by 84% and 41% respectively.
