Effects of valine supplementation on serum and milk biochemical and immune indices and hormone levels of lactating sows

Effects of dietary valine supplementation on serum and milk biochemical indexes,immune indexes,hormone levels of lactating sows were investigated in this study.Thirty-two healthy sows(Landrace×Yorkshire,similar expected date of confinement,parity and body condition)were divided into 4 groups with 8 replications,each replication containing 1 sow.Control group,trial group 1,2 and 3 were fed basal diet(0.93 % lysine,0.84 % valine)supplemented with 0 %, 0.10 %,0.25 % and 0.40 % valine respectively from 107 d of gestation to 21 d of lactation (weaning).The results indicated that,dietary valine supplementation significantly increased serum albumin(ALB)concentrations at the 10th day and the 18th day of lactation (P 0.05),and increased serum IgM (immunoglobulin M)and IgG (immunoglobulin G)concentrations,and increased serum prolactin (PRL)concentrations at the 10th day(P 0.05)and the 18th day(P 0.05)of lactation.Trial group 2 got the lowest blood urea nitrogen (BUN)concentrations;it significantly increased milk insulin (INS) concentrations at the 14th day of lactation (P 0.05),and increased milk GH (growth hormone)concentrations at the 1st day and the 14th day of lactation with significant difference in trial group 2 compared with control group (P 0.05),and tended to increase milk ALB and IgM concentrations (P 0.05);meanwhile,it tended to reduce diarrhea rate in suckling pigs (P 0.05).Therefore,dietary valine supplementation improved sows’ lactating performance,metabolism,immune function and increased milk-borne growth factors concentrations so as to get a better growing performance of suckling pigs.
