Experimental study on integrated flow coefficient of spillway gates with bottom-flat weirs

The existing methods to determine the coefficient of bottom-flat broad-crest weir flows were analyzed.The following problems in the methods for determining the flow coefficients were put forward: first,some methods neglected the water depth over the weir;secondly,although some methods considered the water depth in the lateral contraction coefficient,their results of the integrated flow coefficient were contrary to the actual situations.Based on the analysis of hydraulic model test results of spillways for 9 reservoirs,the integrated flow coefficient of bottom-flat weirs was 0.33~0.37.An empirical formula to determining the integrated flow coefficient was proposed by means of the statistical methods.
