SHEAR STRENGTH AND STRESS-STRAIN PROPERTIES OF SAND-GRAVEL MATERIALS

In this paper a modification of Duncan-Chan's stress-strain model of soils is proposed to take into account of the curved nature of shear strength envelopes and bilinear law of variation of the tangential Poisson Ratio of sand-gravel materials based on the results of numerous large scale triaxial compression tests. In addition, the scale of grain reunification and the method of controling specimen density, which may have a remarkable influence on shear strength and stress-strain properties, as well as some variation in tangential Poisson Ratios are discussed.
