The Formation and Process of Confluence of the Flow with Hyperconcentration in the Gullied-Hilly Loess Areas of the Yellow River Basin

The effects of raindrop impact, surface flow scour and the gravitational erosion on the formation of flow with hyperconcentration in the gullied-hilly loess areas are discussed, and the characteristics of the flow in the process of confluence in gullies of various sizes are illustrated based on the data from Da-Li River basin and the Zi-Zhou Runoff Experiment Station. Owing to the natural adjustments, there exists a certain combination between the sediment concentration and the size distribution, and this plays an important role in maintaining the flow with heavy sediment load.
