Hydraulic characteristics of free overfall

Liu Qingchao (Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power Research)  
Semi-analytical solutions of N-S equations and continuity are given out in this paper. The results reveal that, the accurate analytical solution as quite different from that of the conventional potential flow. Some researchers observed negative pressure in the brink section, others did not in their experiments. The reason for the inconsistency is discussed, in detail The results of the theoretical solutions appear to be generally in agreement with experimental data.
