Review on advancement of study on digital riverbasin in China

A review on advancement of study on digital riverbasin is given from the viewpoints of framework of study,construction of fundamental platform,digital riverbasin model and its relevant technology and construction of application system.The framework of study consists of three layers:data layer,model layer and application layer.The construction of data layer,which is the fundamental layer,is nearly accomplished in China.On the model layer,the development is in the stage of studying small drainage basin and is going to be expanded to large river basins.Referring to the application system,at present,the study is limited in the fields of data providing and decision making support for some specific topics due to lack of comprehensive model describing the whole riverbasin.Therefore,the construction of a practicable digital model suitable for large riverbasin is the urgent task in the development of digital riverbasin.
