Operation mode of serial canal system based on water volume control method

An operation mode of canal system based on storage water volume control method is proposed.The principle of combining feedforward of discharge with feedback of water level is adopted for operation of gates and the operation model for multiple serial channel sections is established.The model is applied to simulate the operation process of the testing canal system proposed by ASCE.The simulation result shows that by reasonably regulating the pounding water volume in canal sections the necessary discharge for downstream of the canal system can be fulfilled.The canal system possesses good performance of response and resumption.
