3-D numerical simulation of the jet nappe in the beveled flip bucket of the spillway

In order to study the hydraulic characteristics of jet nappe in open air,RNG k-ε turbulent model and VOF water-air two phases model were applied to simulate the water-air two-phase jet nappe from a beveled flip bucket to a plunge pool. The calculated shape of water tongue,horizontal length,incidence velocity and angle of the jet nappe are in good agreement with the data obtained in experiments and theoreti cal results,what’s more,the distribution of flow field,turbulent kinetic energy and turbulent dissipation rate of jet nappe are analyzed. The result indicates that model experiment can be replaced by the numerical simulation effectively to some extent. Furthermore,it also can provide some data for engineering design.
