Advances on the Research of Pyrophosphatase in Plants

LI Xiao yuan,ZENG Ri zhong,XIAO Xian zhou(Rubber Research Institute /Ministry of Agriculture Key Lab for Tropical Corps Physiology, CATAS,Danzhou 571737,Hainan,China)  
Two types of pyrophosphatase (PPase) are present in plant tissues:soluble one in cytoplasm and insoluble one on the tonoplast membrane(V PPase).In addition to hydrolyzing PPi,The V PPase is assumed to function as a H+ pump.The PPase on the lutoids of rubber tree is a crucial enzyme in regulating rubber biosynthesis.Advances on the study of botanic pyrophosphatase are reviewed,especially the role of pyrophosphatase in rubber biosynthesis of Hevea brasiliensis (rubber tree).
