Breeding and Traits Evaluation of BADH and Bar Gene Transgenic Rice

The AhBADH gene(encoding betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase) and Bar gene were transferred into genome of rice variety P88S by particle bombardment,and the integrations in rice genome were con-firmed by PCR and Southern blotting.Germination in herbicide glufosinate showed that Bar gene was ex-pressed in rice plants.Salt stress demonstrated that the salt tolerance of transgenic line was increased over non-transgenic line.The pollen sterility of PTGMS(photoperiod-sensitive / thermo-sensitive genic male sterile) line P88S changed after genetically modified and showed some degree of fertility.
