Comparative Study on the Antioxidation Activity of Flos lonicerae Extracts Using Water and Ethanol

To compare the effect of extracts from Flos lonicerae (FLE)with different solvents on inhibi- ting oil oxidation,the lard added Flos Lonicerae extracts of PV were determined.Furthermore,the scavenging effects of Flos lonicerae extracts on free radicals were investigated using DPPH radical.The results showed that these two kinds of crude extracts have the function in preventing oil from peroxidation.The antioxidation activity of Flos lonicerae ethanol extracts(FLEE) were generally better than that of Flos lonicerae water ex- tracts (FLWE).The antioxidation ability of FLEE was almost the same as that of BHT and TBHQ.It indica- ted that its mechanism of antioxidation may be realized by scavenging free radical to inhibit lipit chain reactions.
