Isolation and Purification of Quercetin Monomer from Green Tea

Wei Zhiwen,Wan Xiaochun,Li Daxiang,Ling Tiejun(Key Laboratory of Tea Biochemistry and Biotechnology,Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Education,Anhui Agriculture University,Hefei 230036,China)  
Tea polyphenols prepared from green tea was separated with the 95% ethanol elution on Sephadex LH-20 Column to obtain quercetin.The yield rate and purity of crude quercetin sample was 7.82% and 20.40% respectively.The pure products are obtained by precipitation and freezing-dried.The yield of pure quercetin was 5.93% with the purity of 98.89%(HPLC).The structure was confirmed by analysis of its 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR data.
