The Study of Bamei Mutton Sheep Growth Performances

The aim of this study is to examine the basic law of growth performance of Bamei mutton sheep.Groups of ten Bamei mutton sheep were slaughtered at 4,6,8 and 12 months of age,the body length,body height,alive weight,net meat weight,carcass weight,and some nutrient composition were determined in different months of age.The results showed the body length and height of Bamei mutton sheep from 4~6 months of age were significantly higher other period(p0.05),and they gained their body weight quickly between 6~8 months of age,but became slower after 8 months of age.Water content increased gradually before 8 months of age,but began to decline at 12 months of age(p0.05),the ash content did not change obviously,the content of protein and fat increased gradually with months of age.As a conclusion,8 months of age should be the best slaughter time.
