Effects of lipoic acid on oxidoreduction condition and the level of microorganism in the intestinal tract of mice fed high-fat diets

Objective:To evaluate the effects of lipoic acid(LA)on free radicals and microorganism in mice fed with high-fat diet.Method:Forty mice were randomLy divided into 4 groups:control group,high-fat group(16.1%lard),high fat plus 0.05% LA group,high fat plus 0.1% LA group.Then the levels of free radicals,intestinal microorganism,MDA,T-AOC and the activities of SOD in the intestinal tract were detected at the end of 6th weak.Results:High-fat diet could increase the level of free radicals,induce oxidative stress in mice and decrease the level of lactobacilli,increase Escherichia coli in the intestinal tract of mice(P0.05).Addition of LA in high-fat diets could decrease the level of free radicals and MDA of plasma and intestinal tract in mice significantly(P0.05),enhance the activities of SOD and the level of T-AOC in plasma and intestinal tract(P0.05),increase the level of lactobacilli and decrease Escherichia coli in the intestinal tract of mice(P0.05).Moreover,they are linear with the dosage of LA in the diets.Conclusion:Oxidative stress disturbs the balance ofintestinal tract colonies of mice.Good oxidoreduction condition can accommodate the quantity ofintestinal tract colonies of mice fed high-fat.
