Comparative study on the polysaccharide contents and antioxidant activities of different parts of Lanzhou Lily

Polysaccharides from different parts of Lanzhou Lily were obtained and determined by hot water extraction , ethanol precipitation and phenol-sulfuric acid method respectively . Antioxidant activities of polysaccharide from different parts of Lanzhou Lily were assessed by scavenging activity of DPPH radical,superoxide anion radical,hydroxyl radical and reducing power with vitamin C as a positive control. The result showed that polysaccharide content of outer layer was 1.47% ,which was significantly higher than inner layer and root,but there were no significant difference between inner layer and root.The scavenging activity of DPPH radical,concentration from 0.2 to 1.0mg/mL,VCinner layerrootouter layer. The scavenging activity of superoxide anion radical,VCouter layer inner layer,root had no activity. The scavenging activity of hydroxyl radical,concentration from 0.2 to 1.0mg/mL,rootouter layerVCinner layer;reducing power,VCrootouter layerinner layer. In conclusion,the experiment demonstrated that polysaccharides from different parts of lily were promising free radical scavenger and antioxidant.
