The damage of heavy metal stress on plant cell ultrastructure

HU Jin-zhao,ZHENG Ai-zhen(Department of Biology,Shangqiu Teachers College,Shangqiu 476000,China)
A great deal of results indicate that heavy metal stress can cause different damages to plant cell ultrastructure, mainly expresed in the abnormal changes of golgi body, endoplasmic reticulum, nucleus, chloroplast, mitochondria, vacuole and plasma membrane etc.The longer the exposing time or the higher concentration of heavy metals, the much severer the damage to ultrastucture. The paper reviews the toxic effects of heavy metals on ultrastructure of plant cells,in order to investigate the ultrastructural damage rule by heavy metal pollution and supply cytologic evidences of the toxic mechanism of heavy metal on plants.
