Effect of nap on physical function after sport training for athletes

Objective: To study the effect of physical functions by nap after sport training for athletes.Methods: 10 athletes took part in the two-day test randomly.One day,after morning training,athletes took a nap for 1 hour at 13∶00 pm,the other morning did not take a nap after training.Respectively in 12∶30 and 14∶30 each day,the athletes took orderly Physiological function,mood state and EEG tests.Results: After a nap,the α wave increased,the β and θ wave reduced of the athletes EEG,the heart rate and blood pressure fell,reaction time and grip strength had no significant change,the flicker fusion frequency increased,the levels of a benign state of mind elevated.Conclusion: The nap can improve brain function and arousal levels,lower heart rate and blood pressure,improve the level of activity of the visual system,relax body and mind,promote physical and mental recovery of athletes after training,but the sleep inertia may be reduce the reaction time and grip strength.
