Analysis of morphological variations between two geographical populations of Paralichthys olivaceus from Qingdao and Zhoushan

Traditional morphological data and truss network data were combined to conduct a multivariation analysis to study the morphological variation of two geographical populations of Paralichthys olivaceus from Qingdao and Zhoushan.Analysis of five meristic characters indicated that the numbers of dorsal fin rays and anal fin rays of Paralichthys olivaceus from Qingdao more 10.75 and 8.4 were than those of Zhoushan respectively,and the difference was very significant(P0.01).The results of cluster analysis of 69 metric characters plus truss network data showed the difference of 43 of them were very significant,and the component 1 was 34.394%,which included 37 characters,23 of them came from tip of snout to terminus of anal fin.The discriminant rate of synthesis of two populations were 100%.There was significant difference of morphological trains between two geographical populations of Paralichthys olivaceus from Qingdao and Zhoushan,and they could be discriminated by meristic characters,metric characters plus truss network data.
