Natural gas is important chemical material and is used as feed to produce synthesis ammonia, methanol and ethyne. Ethyne has two kinds of downstream products. One is the same downstream products that can be gotten from ethylene and propylene, such as chloroethylene, vinyl acetate and acrylic acid, etc. The other is special chemicals of ethyne, such as 1,4-butanediol series made by alkyne -aldehyde method, including ethynyl aether, polyacetylene, etc. When oil price keeps high, ethyne chemical industry has the obvious competitive advantage in some fields. The cost of ethyne from natural gas is compared with that of ethyne from calcium carbide in this paper. The research of acrylic acid and 1,4-butanediol series products synthesized by ethyne is the emphasis of this paper.
