STUDY ON THE SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS AND EIOMASS OF THE PINUS TABULAEFORMIS FOREST SYSTEMS IN CHINA

ased on the available data from literatures,a systematical analysis using plant ecologi-cal methodology was made on the Pinus tabulaeformis forest communities in China for theircharacteristics,biomasses in different climate regions,annual net productions and distribu-tions in various layers,and annual net productivities of biomass(NP/B).The results showthat the enclosed and about 30 vear old P. tabulaeformis forest communities had a biomass of151.13t/hm ̄2 in the east humid region of warm temperate zone(C),of 145.593t/hm ̄2 in thesubtropical humid region(D),of 113.937t/hm ̄2 in the south humid/semihumid region ofwarm temperate zone(B),and of 73.86 t/hm ̄2 in the north semihumid region of warm temper-ate zone(A);an annual net production of 16.91t/hm ̄2·a in region C,of 11.4 t/hm ̄2·a inregion B,of 11.34t/hm ̄2· a in region D,and of 4.17 t/hm ̄2· a in region A;and The NP/Bvalue of 0.112 in region C,of 0.10 in region B,of0.078 in region D,and of0.06 in region A.of these,the arbor layer dominantly consisted of P. tabulaeformis had a biomass of 117. 39t/hm ̄2 in region C,of 104.44t/hm ̄2 in region B,of 93.98t/hm ̄2 in region D,and of 71.77t/hm ̄2in region A;an annual riet production of 11. 93t/hm ̄2· a in region C,of 8. 62 t/hm ̄2·a inregion B,of 5.01 t/hm ̄2·a in region D, and of 4.17 t/hm ̄2·a in region A;and a NP/B valueof 0.102 in region C,of 0.0827 in region B,of 0.0583 in region A,and of0.053 in region D.The relationships among biomass,stand density and stand age of P. tabulaeformis were alsodiscussed.The mean individual biomass(Y=W/P)in function of stand age(x)in differentregions had the following regression equations:in region A,Y=1.8504e ̄(0.0849x);in region B,y=2. 1993e ̄(0.11895x);in region C,y=0.059x ̄(2.1851);and in region D,y=9.3881e ̄(0.06819x)。
