HOU Zhongsheng;Advanced Control Systems Lab,Beijing Jiaotong University;  
A short early history and a few important papers published in 90 s of the20 st century on the model-free control and the model-free adaptive control(MFAC)are presented,and the difference between MFAC and other mainstream control methods is also emphasized in this paper.After a brief introduction on the MFAC,it is pointed that the dynamic linearization method for the discrete time nonlinear systems is also a fundamental tool for the control system design of the data-driven MFAC based on the controller-dynamic- linearization,the data-driven iterative learning control and the data-driven model-free adaptive iterative learning control.The last are the short summary and prospective research topics on MFAC.
