The strength characteristics of collapsible Loess during moistening process

The strength of collapsible loess will be decreasing clearly during moistening process, Such characteristic can be well described by a critical surface of strength which is discussed in this paper based on the data obtained from a series of triaxial shear rests. For a given stress level, the moisture content w_(er) is a critical limit of ultimate eguilibrium state. Collapsible loess will lose its bearing capacity at the given stress level, when its moisture content is equal or greater than w_(er).
