3DEC analysis on 6# high rock slope with joints in Xiaowan Hydropower Project

There are three roads,high routine road,up routine road and down routine road on 6# high rock slope zone in Xiaowan Hydropower Project on Lancang River of Yunnan Province.The part of slope happened to slide when digging high routine road.Investigations show that there are two groups of joints in the 6# high rock slope,and 6# slope's deformation is depended on them.In order to understand the deformation failure mechanics,the authors build 3DEC model of 6# slope.Through analysis,following conclusions are drawn: the deformation comes from the shear deformation among joints and then stresses re-distribute.At last deformation will increase and may happen to slide along front shear fracture lying in elevation of 1?100m of 6# high slope.Then we gave the suggestion of key support on cutting crack position.
