Advances in quantitative structural research of loess

Loess which has a strong structural property is a kind of geological material.It is different from other soils in physical and mechanical behaviors.Recently the study of its structural property,from qualitative to quantitative,has drawn more and more attention in the engineering and geo-mechanical field.Structural research of loess is of great practical significance.On the other hand,after presenting an overview of the published literature on structural behavior of loess,including influence factors on structural behavior of loess,constitutive relation,and collapsibility and so on,the quantitative research progress on mechanical behaviors of loess is reviewed.Considering the lack of knowledge on structural behavior of loess from quantitative research,this paper discusses and suggests the future studies on it.
