Research Progress in Salt Tolerance in Plants

The soil salification is a serious problem for the agricultural production and ecological environment.The shrinkage in plowable land and the lack of fresh\|water resources has forced mankind to explore the usage of large areas of saline soils,sea shores and beaches.Consequently,research on the mechanisms of salt tolerance in plants and molecular breading has become a central issue in plant biology.During the last decade,efforts from different laboratories in the world have led to some significant progresses in this field.In this review,we will attempt to cover various aspects of salt tolerance in plants,including genes implicated in osmoregulation.\;
