Chen Ying\ Jiang Hong\ Wang Xingzhi (Institute of Genetics & Cytology Northeast Normal University Changchun,Jilin,P.R.China\ 130024)
It will increase the food and environmental safety of transgenic plants if the selectable marker genes were removed from the transgenic plants afterwards. It is more acceptable for the consumer consideration and easy for multiple genetic manipulation with various genes of interests as well.In recent years scientists have explored the transformation systems where the selectable marker genes have been removed and marker\|free transgenic plants obtained. The up\|to\|date developments of this field are discussed in this paper in order to benefit the transgenic plants towards industrilization.
