Advances in research on genetic engineering and molecular biology of plant chitinase

Plant chitinases exhibit physiologic activities in many ways, particularly in the disease resistance of plant. So, in this paper, the recent research progress of the plant chitinase gene structure, the present achievements in plant chitinase genetic engineering including transferring chintinase genes into plant genes, as well as the advances in molecular comparison and molecular evolution were briefly reviewed. After discussing these topics, It was predicted that the application perspective of plant chitinase genetic engineering will be more and more universal in the foreseeable future.
