Study on fed batch fermentation kinetic models for astaxanthin by Phaffia rhodozyma

The fed-batch fermentation kinetics of astaxanthin producing by Phaffia rhodozyma was studied with a 30 liter scale batch bioreactor.The kinetic models of cell growth,astaxanthin production and substrate consumption were constructed.The optimal parameters were estimated and linefit was fitted to models through software MATLAB.The results showed that the relationship of biomass specific growth rate and residual sucrose concentration were in accordance with the Logistic equation,where umax=0.1829/h,Yp/x =0.1524g/g,respectively.Astaxanthin formation was associated with growth in fed batch cultures with Phaffia rhodozyma.Compared the experimental data with calculation data,the kinetic models appeared to provide a reasonable description for parameter in the fermentation.
