A New Viewpoint about Geophysical Condition for Strong Earthquake Occurrence in Periphery of Qinghai-Xizang Plateau

Periphery of QinghaiXizang plateau is one of the main strong earthquake region. It is also the variant belt of geophysical field and discontinuous crust belt, closely related to the strong earthquake occurrence as the results of previous studies. Thinking over these results, it is concluded that strong earthquakes usually occur in the variant belt of geophysical field and discontinuous crust belt, where contour lines change from denseness to scarcity,or slope belt. This result provides basic requirements for earthquake location predicting, potential seismic source zoning and earthquake parameter determing.
