Coupled thermo-mechanical FEM analysis of the sintered powder during upsetting process

According to the interaction of thermal and mechanical effects during powder forging process,the coupled thermo-mechanical equations for numerical simulation were studied with the compressible rigid-viscoplastic finite element method。 Free upsetting process was selected to investigate the deformation behavior of the sintered powder metal of Al 6061.Through the numerical simulation,the distributions of strain,density and temperature are investigated under the different working conditions. The adoption of coupled thermo-mechanical technique enables a more accurate description of deformation,and this is very important to properly determine the technology parameter and increase the quality of the products.
