Study of UV-absorption characteristics and quantitative analysis method of benzaldehyde and benzoic acid

The UV-absorption characteristics of benzaldehyde and benzoic acid were discussed,and the quantitative analysis method was developed.It was proved that the adsorption value of benzaldehyde,benzoic acid and the mixture were always related to their total concentration at the wavelength of 234 nm with ethanol as solvent,and the adsorption value at the wavelength of 250 nm was proportional to the concentration of benzaldehyde.The content calculation formula were:C苯甲醛=9.074×10-5A250(mol/L),C苯甲酸=1.168×10-4A234-9.074×10-5A250(mol/L).The detection limit of complexed solution was 0.17×10-5 mol/L;the detection limit of benzaldehyde was 0.435 6×10-6 mol/L.The relative standard deviation of benzaldehyde was 0.86%,average recovery was 100.1%,average relative error was 1.24%.The relative standard deviation of benzoic acid was 0.41%,average recovery was 100.7%,average relative error was-0.37%.
