Study on the preparation of magnesia-active carbon supported ruthenium-based catalysts for ammonia synthesis

MgO-AC can be prepared by calcining Mg(NO3)2-AC at N2 atmosphere as the support of ruthenium catalysts for ammonia synthesis.The changes of catalytic activity and effect of different calcination atmosphere on catalytic activity were investigated.The activity of this kind of catalysts is higher than that of catalysts only supported by MgO or AC and the temperature at which the catalysts exhibit the highest activity is comparatively low which is beneficial to ammonia synthesis.At the same time,the activity of catalysts with MgO-AC as support is superior to that of catalysts with MgO+AC as support,which shows that there is a strong interaction between MgO and AC in the MgO-AC support.And the interaction between MgO and AC can be concluded by TGA.
