Study on photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange with nano-ZnO as catalyst

Using Zn(NO3)2·6H2O and(C6H9NO)nas raw materials,the reaction temperature at 80 ℃and reaction time for 8 h,nano-ZnO powder was prepared by the method of calcining co-precipitation at500 ℃. The average radius of nano ZnO was 32 nm. Under the UV light,methyl orange in aqueous solution can quickly be decomposed by ZnO catalyst. The effects of amount of catalyst,light time and pH value on photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange were discussed.
