Correlation between Maize Agronomic Characters and Maize Agronomic Characters and Yield of Correlation and Path Analysis

The yield related traits of maize, including plant height, ear height, ear length, ear diameter, the bald length, ear rows,kernels per row, kernel weight and kernel rate were measured at post grain-filling stages in a maize diallel cross involving 21 hybrids and seven parents, and their relationships between each other and yield were also analyzed. The results showed that the correlations among the agronomic traits were high, so we should coordinate the relationship of the various characters, focus on the choice of long spike thick,bald, line number, number of grains per ear and seed yield, and could relax appropriately plant height, ear height, ear length and grain weight when we chose our ideal materials. Further analysis indicated that the production of maize was rarely correlated with that of height length, but highly correlated with other yield components. Moreover, the production of maize was significantly and positively correlated with that of bald length, rows per ear,kernel percentage and ear diameter. The directly effect on the production of various characters was grains per row kernel percentageear diameterbald length 100-grain weightrows per earear heightear length plant height.
