Some applications of OPTFR-multiwavelet to the fusion of infrared and visible images

A balanced multi-filter is designed for OPTFR-multi-wavelet and a new fusion method is presented.This method firstly extracts low frequency information and high frequency information at different scales from original infrared image and visible image by using three level OPTFR-multi-wavelet transform.Since a large port of energy of an image are concentrated on the low frequency components and the high frequency components at different scales represent the detail information of images at different scales,the low frequency and high frequency components are fused by weighted mean of energy and variance,respectively.Then the fusion image is obtained by a reconstruction process.A simulation shows that the approach retains the detail information of the input image better than conventional fusion methods.
