Clinical observation on HLF regimen in the treatment of 126 cases of malignant tumor of digestive tract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and toxicity of the combination chemotherapy with hydroxycamptothecin(HCPT), leucovorin(CF) and 5-fluorouracil(5-FU) in the treatment of malignant tumor of digestive tract. Methods One hundred and twenty-six patients with malignant tumor of digestive tract were treated with HLF regimen. HCPT was given on the days 1-5 at a dose of 10mg/m~2, CF was given on the days 1-5 at a dose of 100mg/m~2 and 5-FU was given on the days 1-5 at a dose of 500mg/m~2 by intravenous drip each day. The chemotherapy was repeated every 21 days and a course of treatment included 2~4 cycles. Results 3 patients showed complete response, 33 partial response, the total effective rate was 33.3%, the effective rate of colorectal cancer was 47.3%, carcinoma of stomach was 35.5%, liver cancer was 10.0%, carcinoma of esophagus was 30.0%, carcinoma of cholecyst was 22.2%. The main toxic effects were nausea, vomiting and myelosuppression, more of them were grade Ⅰ~Ⅱ. Conclusion HLF regimen is effective and safe for advanced digestive tract cancer, the toxic effects are mild.
