Generalized linear inversion of seismic traces

Generalized linear inversion is a tecnique for calculating wave impedance by the inversion of CDP-stacked seismic traces.Its pecul- iar merit is that the error does not accumulate with depth.We have made an improvement of generalized linear inversion of seismic traces, developed by Cooke and Schneider(1983).The experiments show that the synchronous inversion of depth parameter and wave impedance of formation can give us the satisfactory result the asynchronous inver- sion fails to offer.The measures that partial derivative matrix with respect to logarithm of the wave impedance is derived and then norma- lized can not only guarantee the rightness but also improve the com- putational accuracy.The effect of initial error on inversion result is analysed in the paper.It is pointed out that on the premise of correct signs of reflection coefficients,even an initial model which deviates quite severely from the true model can be converged to the true one by the generalized linear inversion method.
