Most of the conventional migration methods are based on the assumption of completely elastic isotropic medium. However real underground media are visco-elastic and anisotropic. The ignorance of media viscosity and anisotropy will lead to mistakes for amplitude and image positions.Based on the Futterman dispersion relation equation,we derive the higher-order Fourier finite difference(FFD)propagator for visco-acoustic VTI medium and apply it to prestack depth migration. After the implementation,we firstly test the correctness of the proposed method by the gas block model, and then we evaluate the adaptability of the proposed method via the strong lateral variation Hess model. At last, combined with the migration results, waveform and amplitude spectrum, the effects of medium viscosity and anisotropy on migration are analyzed in detail. Our research results suggest that the signal-to-noise ratio and resolution are greatly improved on migrations with the viscosity compensation and anisotropy correction obtained by the proposed method.
