Influencing factors of inaccessible pore volume of polymer flooding

The effects of different relative molecular weight of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM), pore size distributions of cores, different temperatures and salinity on the inaccessible pore volume (V_(IP)) of HPAM were studied by using double-slug method. The analysis results proved that V_(IP) increased with the increment of the relative molecular weight of HPAM and decreased gradually with the increase of the average pore radius of core, temperature and salinity. Under the varying conditions of formation, the increment of the V_(\%IP) of HPAM may be prominent, which has a great influence on the sweep coefficient of the polymer flooding and reduce the oil recovery efficiency of polymer flooding.
