Clinical Application of 16-slice Spiral CT Angiography in Internal Carotid Artery

Objective To study the clinical application of multi-slice spiral CT angiography(MSCTA)in internal carotid artery.Methods A total of 58 patients suspected internal carotid diseases underwent MSCTA of internal carotid artery were reviewed.The scanning data was used to perform 3D reconstruction with volume rendering technique(VRT),maximum intensity projection(MIP),multiplanar reconstruction(MPR),curved planar reconstruction(CPR) and CT virtual endoscopy(CTVE).Results Of 58 cases,17 cases were normal,different stages of internal carotid artery diseases were revealed in 41 cases including 9 cases of aneurysm,23 cases of artery stenosis,4 cases of occlusion,of 5 stents planted in 5 cases,soft plaque suspected in 2 case and occlude in 1.Conclusion The 16-slice spiral CT angiography is superior modality in evaluation of internal carotid stenosis,plaques,and stents.As a minimally invasive examination,MSCTA is a valuable method to detect the diseases of internal carotid artery.
