γ-Butyrolactone from Maleic Anhydride by Hydrogenation nrude Atmospheric Pressure

The catalytic properties of Cu catalysts for hydrogenation of maleic anhydride to γ-butyroiactone have been studied in a fixed-bed flow reactor. A highly selective catalyst XYF-5 has been found after testing a number of catalysts. The effects of reaction conditions on the catalytic activity are examined and a yield of γ-butyrolactone as high as 95% obtained. Results of XRD and AES show that the catalytic activity depends on Cu~2 and the structure of the active unit is (?)—O(□ is oxygen vacancy).
